New Online Tool for Specifiers and Customers |
| 05/14/2009 |
| Framingham, MA - SolarOne Solutions, the world`s leading provider of solar powered LED area lighting, introduces Get SO-Smart™, a web-based tool to help facility managers, lighting designers and town planners evaluate the sizing and performance of stand-alone solar powered lighting systems. As the global leader in solar lighting, SolarOne Solutions recognizes the need of customers to navigate the myriad of offerings from unproven companies entering the solar lighting space. Get SO-Smart helps customers evaluate solutions from various companies and discover the unique benefits offered from SolarOne Solution’s product line. Using any standard web browser, equipment data is entered into the Get SO-Smart calculator by the user (or facility manager) for a specific site and Get SO-Smart’s algorithms will calculate the energy performance for the “worst case” conditions; namely the longest night and shortest day of the year and the longest stretch of dark and cloudy weather. Get SO-Smart can even display warnings if there is insufficient solar power and/or battery storage for reliable year-round operation using SolarOne’s own best-practices. Get SO-Smart makes use of NASA’s extensive Surface Meteorology and Climate database to determine results for any location on the planet. The calculator takes into account the solar resource, high and low temperatures, night length, and recommended days of storage for that location. Get SO-Smart also takes into account the type of charge controller, associated efficiency and standby losses, and the low-voltage disconnect (LVD) features of most controllers. Get SO-Smart is the only tool in the marketplace specifically designed to help users assess the ability of a given solar powered lighting system to perform throughout the year. According to Moneer Azzam, President or SolarOne Solutions, “This self-help tool was developed based upon years of experience and thousands of solar powered lighting systems deployed across the globe. With solar LED lighting rapidly coming into the mainstream, we anticipate that this calculator will evolve to serve the growing demand. To that end, we invite users to experiment and to give us feedback.” Potential users, from campus and facility managers to lighting designers and engineers access Get SO-Smart by visiting www.solarone.net and clicking on the link to the calculator. |
